About brokencar

What we do

brokencar helps Australians whose car has gone wrong take it up with the people who sold it. We read your paperwork and tell you honestly whether there may be a claim worth making. If there is, and you want us to, we put it in writing to the dealership and the manufacturer and negotiate on your behalf. You approve any outcome before it’s accepted.

It costs nothing to find out where you stand, and nothing is attached to it. If we think there may be a claim, we’ll email you what it would cost to work with us, in plain numbers, and you decide from there.

What we’re not

  • We’re not a law firm. We don’t give legal advice or provide legal services. If a matter looks like it needs legal advice, we’ll let you know.
  • We’re not a workshop, a mechanic or a parts supplier. We don’t repair or service cars.
  • We’re not a wrecker or a buyer. We don’t buy, tow or dispose of vehicles.

Which cars

Cars bought in Australia from the brand’s own dealership, such as a Mazda from a Mazda dealership. We don’t take on private sales, cars bought from other kinds of dealers, or cars bought overseas, because the parties who may have to answer a claim are different.

How we work

Everything starts with the paperwork. The tax invoice or contract of sale, the service history and anything the dealership has already said. We read it against the consumer guarantees, tell you what we think is realistic, and go from there. We don’t contact anyone about your car without your say-so.
